Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Sterile Processing Technician, youll play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care by making sure every instrument is thoroughly cleaned, sterilized, and ready when needed. Your focus on safety and attention to detail helps protect patients and empowers a team that’s committed to the care and improvement of human life – one surgery at a time.
What you will do in this role:
- Demonstrates overall ability to prioritize and organize time, evidenced by ability to complete work assignment within assigned shift, therefore controlling overtime.
- Manages supplies and equipment effectively and efficiently.
- Demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures specific to CPD.
- Functions within parameters of job description, educational preparation, and documented competency levels.
- Carries out known tasks to completion without continued reminders.
- Applies and adheres to hospital and departmental policies/protocols in daily routine.
- Actively participates in performance improvement activities.
- Practices hospital infection control policies.
- Demonstrates proficiency in performance of job-related technical skills.
- Uses skills to assist supervisor and preceptors in orientation of new employees.
- Performs special assignments and duties as requested and/or according to educational training.
- Demonstrates familiarity with capabilities of information management system (Meditech).
- Shares knowledge with staff when problem solving.
What qualifications you will need:
- Prior CPD experience required
- One year in OR setting preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Tech (CSPT), or Certified Registered Central Service Technician is Required
