Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the general direction of the Director of Radiology, the Radiology Nurse is a Registered Nurse responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients in Radiology. Registered Nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the Hospital. The Radiology Nurse is responsible for patient assessment, monitoring of patients pre and post examination as well as providing IV contrast and oral sedation under the direct supervision of the Radiologist.
What you will do in this role:
- Performs other patient care related activities as assigned.
- Plans, coordinates, and provides nursing care to promote continuity of patient care and promote objectives of the department.
- Exercises judgment in the delegation of activities to ensure that patient care is provided by staff with identified competencies in meeting individual patient and family needs.
- Communicate effectively with the Director of Radiology to ensure that any problems or opportunities to improve department activities are addressed.
- Communicates effectively with Radiologists to facilitate coordination of patient care among all disciplines providing patient care services.
- Acts as patients advocate in obtaining care with questioning orders by medical and other professional staff when necessary.
- Utilizes available Inservice programs and other self-directed learning activities to enhance professional nursing practice.
- Actively participates in the Departmental Performance Improvement Program.
What qualifications you will need:
- Texas State RN License
- BCLS
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Previous experience in clinical nursing preferred
